Passion To Profit, Smart Growth Strategies Help Women Entrepreneurs Succeed
Fourth Annual Sellout Conference Brings Top Female Entrepreneurs
across North America to Vancouver
For Immediate Release
On October 19th and 20th, at the fourth annual Women in Biz Network (WIBN) conference, women from across North America will gather in the beautiful City of Vancouver for two days of networking, learning, and building relationships to help them recognize their business dreams.
Leigh Mitchell, founder of WIBN, says that many women walk away from their business dreams in part because the infrastructure to help bolster women in the economy is lacking.
“Even though we have lower rates of unemployment during economic downturns, women are expected to improvise and create our own solutions without help,” she explains. “The astronomical cost of daycare alone creates a chilling effect for mothers who wish to return to the workforce.”
This year’s conference (on October 20th), from Passion-to-Profit: Smart Growth Strategies, brings together some of North America’s top female entrepreneurs to talk about how they built their empires and provide real world skills for women interested in turning their passions into profit.
The 4th Annual Women in Biz Conference on Monday, October 20th celebrates Small Business Month with a day of networking, relationship-building and a mini MBA in small business growth.
Sessions will focus on mentoring (including mentor matching), round table business challenge brain storming, pod casting, building online communities, developing your story, finding your voice, smart business plan expansion planning, breaking through barriers and how to survive the business tug of war and what to do when lost.
Women who attend the conference will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive mentorship-matching program. “Gaining experience and knowledge through a mentor can help you identify your path to success.” Nancy Harris, Sage North America senior vice president and general manager, Canada, says. “Being a mentor to an entrepreneur or small business owner is a tremendous way to give back to the community as a whole.”
Conference attendees will also hear from Profit magazine’s Top Female Entrepreneur in 2012 and 2013, Kelsey Ramsden who will provide an overview of the struggle to balance life and business ambitions. The day will be packed with informative and powerful sessions including learning how to start a podcast for business with Biz Talk Radio’s Anastasia Valentine and understanding how to build a movement and community with Second Firsts author Christina Rasmussen. The day will be capped off with a TELUS Business sponsored Connection Reception, to give attendees the chance to meet, mingle and connect with each other.
On Sunday October 19th is Share Your Passion Day provides new and seasoned business owners with a live forum to define and express their passion, and exchange thoughts, ideas, wisdom and experiences in the company of others.
“Your business is only as strong as your network,” says Mitchell. “Helping female entrepreneurs confidently grow their businesses in smart, measurable, and sustainable ways is what the Women in Biz Conference is all about.”
