These gentlemen are more than just a pretty face, they are servers, party co-hosts and great conversationalists. They just happen to do their job wearing nothing but a bow-tie, cuffs, collar and apron! Butlers in the Buff are hardworking eye candy, they are not performers, just hunky guys that pamper your guests so you don’t have to run back and forth worrying about them!
Who are you outside of work?
I have two little girls so at the moment I’m mom in a pretty huge way! I recently moved my family from Bristol to expand Butlers in the Buff after its success in the United Kingdom. When I’m not catching up on quality time with my family I enjoy workouts, meeting my girlfriends for a cocktail or two and making the most of the outdoor lifestyle on the west coast that I missed so much while living abroad. I’ve enjoyed travel through south east Asia and Europe and intend to go on a few more world-wide adventures when my girls are older.
What motivated you to start your business or choose your profession?
Butlers in the Buff was 10 years in the making in the UK. My husband was the original butler! He thought it was a brilliant and enjoyable way to earn extra funds as an engineering student. He applied a business plan and hasn’t looked back. He now sells Butlers in the Buff franchises all over the world. Watching the transformation inspired me so much that I left a six year career in teaching to step into the forefront as director of the Canadian branch.
How do you overcome business challenges or obstacles?
I keep a positive frame of mind and remember no one is perfect and that mistakes are part of building knowledge. There’s always an expert to ask and alternative paths to take.
What are your greatest strengths?
My creativity, my interpersonal skills and my resilience. I have developed and drawn on these from my background in performing arts and education.
What are your favourite business tools?
The lovely, lovely i-phone! Our office software and skype enable me to get out from behind the desk and work in the sun!
What are you most passionate about?
Making connections, whether it’s with ideas or people. I get a natural high when ideas grow and develop through people, empowering them. I love the sparkle in women when I discuss something unique like Butlers, women feel pampered and fabulous at our events and they deserve every minute!
What advice would you give to other business owners?
Stay true to yourself, stick to your vision and stay positive!
What is the most helpful business book you have read and why?
I’ve not studied a business book to date, I have a great support network within our company, some choice mentors and I research online.
