Tell us about your business.
I am the Founder and President of Newroad Coaching, a boutique firm offering one-on-one business and personal coaching services. Newroad works with entrepreneurs, executives, athletes and entertainers to help them achieve the big picture possibilities of their lives.
As a coach, I use my past experience in television production to encourage clients and audiences to look beyond their perceived reality to the “big picture” possibilities of their lives. Newroad’s clients learn quickly how to broaden their perspectives and inevitably their accomplishments.
My book “30 Ways to Better Days: How to Rally After You’ve Been Dumped”, a self-help book aimed at women who have just gone through a relationship break-up, was released in November, 2011.
My media appearances and columns include CityLine, Breakfast TV/Toronto, The Toronto Star, Women’s Post/Toronto, E! News Canada, Fox Television/Tampa, Creative Loafing (2 runs), Axis Magazine, Magic 100.1/New Jersey, Star 100.7/Pittsburgh, Single Again Magazine, Sirius XM “He Said/She Said,” WBAP-KSCS/Dallas, WHPC/Long Island, Metro US Magazine, About.com, Radio Cosmos, Charlotte Today/Charlotte, The Grid/Toronto, The Greyhound, Womego.com, AOL Latino, SheWired.com, SheKnows.com, CKDO/Toronto, ABC-7: Windy City Live/Chicago; PWR TALK radio and Fairchild TV, amongst others.
Who are you outside of work?
I am the youngest of five children, Aunt to ten nieces and nephews, avid sports fan and car enthusiast. My favourite way to spend a day is at our family cottage; hanging out by the lake.
What motivated you to start your business or choose your profession?
After 18 years in the television business, and with the introduction of reality t.v., I felt that I should hire a coach to help me navigate this new terrain. As a result, I realized that it was time to change careers and that the coaching profession would allow me to bring the “anything is possible” philosophy of the t.v. business to the mainstream.
How do you overcome business challenges or obstacles?
I am a firm believer that there are no business challenges there are only opportunities.
What are your greatest strengths?
Leadership, honesty, passion, motivation and optimism.
What are your favourite business tools?
I love to read business books. Outside of that, the most valuable component of my business are the people that work with me. To me, the most important business tool is the building of relationships.
What are you most passionate about?
Everything I do. If I’m not passionate about it, I don’t do it.
What advice would you give to other business owners?
Stay the course past that moment you feel you should give up.
